On the high school level, the Sustainability Decathlon became either a project for pre-existing clubs or resulted in the development of new clubs and classes. For some students, this was their first hands-on experience in education. All clubs have plans for continuing their projects in the 2007 school year.

On the university level, the Sustainability Decathlon was facilitated through a two-quarter long class titled "Ethics, Sustainability, and Community Action," which transformed the way participating students understood traditional classroom education. Such an unusual course structure caught the attention of many long-term faculty members.

The Sustainability Decathlon involved twenty Santa Clara University students, fifteen faculty members, around thirty community members and forty high school students. As you read this, plans for a year long 2007/08 Sustainability Decathlon are underway.
